By Janet Ekstract – ISTANBUL- On June 4, to commemorate the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged the U.N. to take definitive actions to protect vulnerable children. The Turkish leader called on all countries to protect the honor and dignity of humanity including the children of Gaza and to take a clear stand against Israel’s actions in Gaza. As Erdogan reiterated, he said Israel is not only massacring children and babies but also humanity. In a statement, the Turkish president said: “I invite the United Nations, which declared this special day, to take a concrete step against the massacre of innocent children in Gaza by bombs for months, and to take action with the understanding that the world is bigger than five,” referring to the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council who have veto power to stop Israel’s violence in Gaza. He added that Turkiye “will continue to extend our hand” to the oppressed worldwide “especially in Gaza.” “Wherever children are being killed, wherever they are subjected to hunger and poverty, we will continue to extend our hand and work hard with the belief that a more just world is possible,” Erdogan pledged.
