By Janet Ekstract ISTANBUL- On Wednesday, U.S. President Biden in a press conference gave a speech where he clearly stated “Justice must be done.” While Biden said Israeli rage is justified, he remarked “But I caution this, don’t be consumed by it.” He also said that such a situation as Israel faces requires “clarity about the objectives and an honest assessment.” Biden made it clear that after examining footage of the sof the attack on a hospital where 500 people were killed that “it appears to be the result of an errant rocket fired in Gaza.”
The U.S. president said that Israel has agreed to open the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza to allow aid to get to Gazans but did not indicate a specific timeframe. Biden also warned: “If Hamas diverts or steals the assistance they will have demonstrated once again they have no consideration for the Palestinian people. Biden said that the U.S. is in close coordination with Egypt and other nations to bring trucks across the border and said “The U.S. demands the Red Cross be allowed to visit the hostages.” Biden said his heart goes out to the plight of the Palestinians and that “The vast number of Palestinians are not Hamas.” He added that Hamas “doesn’t represent the Palestinians and is using Palestinians “to achieve its objectives.” The president said that $100M has been earmarked for assistance to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Biden said he wants Israel to know that the U.S. fully stands behind it and that as far as the terrorists are concerned – “We can never let them win.”
