Consequences of civil war and conflicts blatantly harm and leave irrecoverable marks on the cultural heritage in Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia and Mali.
Apart from world’s one of the oldest mosque, Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, Khalid ibn al-Walid Mosque in Homs and written records in Timbuktu many other mosques, museums, mausoleums, historical bazaars and madrasas were damaged and ruined. Aleppo’s Umayyad Mosque destroyed during the civil war.
