Diplomatic Traffic for Gaza and Lebanon from UN Secretary General Guterres

Antonio Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), reportedly held numerous talks to bring the developments in Gaza and Lebanon to the table. (AA)

A written statement was made from the UN Spokesman on Guterres’ talks.
Accordingly, Guterres had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahiyan yesterday. The situation in the Middle East and the Red Sea was discussed.

Noting that all parties in the Red Sea should reduce tensions, Guterres also stressed that the UN Security Council resolution 2722 should be implemented.

As Guterres echoed the call for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and for the release of all prisoners, the two agreed that humanitarian aid should be increased.

Guterres met with blinken

Guterres, based in Davos, met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

The two discussed the release of humanitarian aid and prisoners in Gaza, as well as a two-state solution.

Guterres and Blinken noted that tensions should be reduced and maritime security maintained in the region.

Meeting with the prime ministers of Lebanon and Jordan

In his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Necib Makati, Guterres stressed that regional tensions should be reduced.

Guterres, who also met with Jordanian Prime Minister Bashir al-Hasavne, discussed the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and the solution with the two states. (AA)
