Turkish Journal – Şevval Erdağ – From April 21 to 24, the 12th edition of the Cultural Village event at Qatar University featured 26 countries, each sharing its unique story under the theme “A Story Behind Every Nation”.

Türkiye was successfully represented at the event by Turkish students currently studying at Qatar University.

Throughout the four-day event, the Turkish booth attracted significant attention. Visitors were introduced to Turkish culture, traditions, cuisine, and national values. The traditional treats and cultural displays presented at the booth garnered widespread acclaim from attendees.

As part of the event, the Turkish team also participated in a theatre performance, earning third place in the “Girls’ Stage” category. Palestine was awarded first place, while Egypt secured second place in the same category.

The performance depicted the unity of the Ummah during the Ottoman period. It emphasized the importance of Ummah consciousness and highlighted the necessity of achieving this awareness as a nation. The theme was conveyed through examples of the unity and services the Ottoman Empire provided for the Ummah. The performance was met with great appreciation.

A Turkish student from Qatar University expressed their pride in representing their country, sharing their thoughts with the Turkish Journal: “Above all, we are honored to represent our country. We take great pride in our nation and culture. We went through an intense three-day preparation process, in addition to the hard work we had done beforehand. However, when we stepped onto the stage, waved our flag, and found out we had placed, all our fatigue disappeared.”

The student added “The way our ancestors kept this unity and solidarity alive sheds light on our common future. Even if we do not speak the same language, the consciousness of the Ummah, as people who share the same values, forms the foundation of our faith and our geographies.”
