Turkish Journal – Şevval Erdağ – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who attended the 60th Munich Security Conference, made statements regarding Israel’s plans for an attack on the Rafah region.
The Secretary-General, stating that the Rafah region, where Israel is planning attacks, is the center of humanitarian aid operations, warned, “A comprehensive attack on the city would be devastating for Palestinian civilians already struggling to survive.”
Guterres rejected the justification of collective punishment against the Palestinian people due to Israeli attacks, asserting, “Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people by Israel’s attacks. The situation in Gaza is a shocking indicator of the deadlock in global relations.”
Guterres conveyed the struggles facing humanitarian aid operations in the region, highlighting that aid workers are laboring under arduous conditions, encompassing bombardments, physical obstacles, and various constraints.
The Secretary General called for “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and a humanitarian ceasefire” to increase humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza.
The 60th Munich Security Conference, convened in Germany, is scheduled to take place from February 16th to 18th. (AA)
