Ukraine War Analysis: America What Are You Waiting For?

ISTANBUL-The question that should be on everyone’s mind, American and foreign national alike is this: What are you waiting for America? Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky should not have to repeatedly beg via video link for the right kind of powerful aircraft, missiles and other advanced weapons systems that America is capable of providing if only it would do so, immediately.

In the wake of Zelensky’s last impassioned plea to a standing ovation from Congress, U.S. President Joe Biden immediately pledged $800 million in additional assistance that is purported to include advanced drones, missiles and the like. But clearly, the Biden administration is being driven by fear rather than by moral conscience. To date, Russian President Vladimir Putin has gotten away with the most vile, vicious and inhumane attacks on humanity that the world has ever seen. The likes of which a majority of senior politicians, claim has not been seen since World War II.

Clearly, the writing is on the wall for America. If the Biden administration’s aim is to see Ukraine defeat Russia, then why has it not sent the most advanced and proper military equipment to Ukraine in the first place? A question that begs a logical answer. It is not good enough for Biden to insist that he doesn’t want to drag the U.S. or NATO into World War III. Hate to break it to you Biden administration, World War III is already at your door. It is practically at Europe’s door. It just hasn’t knocked yet.

If NATO and the U.S. do not make a concerted effort to provide the most modern weaponry available for Ukraine and/or refuse to accept Poland’s submission of a proposal for a Polish peacekeeping mission in Ukraine then Putin has won. Putin has won precisely because he has been testing the West and its allies, all along. In fact, what Russia’s president Vladimir Putin has been doing, very obviously is stringing America along.

Europe knows better and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has reiterated that Russia broke its NATO agreement to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbors – this justifies the EU’s military reinforcement. As Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock stated, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a “flagrant breach” of its NATO agreement, echoing exactly what Stoltenberg said in a recent press conference. So where does that leave Zelensky, bravely and valiantly doing his utmost best to defend his country while under the threat of imminent demise.

One thing we know for sure: President Biden cannot keep vowing that the U.S. “stands in solidarity” with the Ukrainian people and Ukraine while hesitating to decide whether he should send the most advanced drones America has that could have taken the Russian military out, weeks ago.  As George Bush so wisely said after 9/11: “You’re either for us or you’re against us.

Let us ask America: which one will it be?
