NEW YORK (TURKISH JOURNAL)- Dilek Kaya – The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning in New York due to heavy rainfall rates exceeding 1 inch per hour throughout the day.
Heavy rainfall could cause serious flooding on roads and in subway stations.
New York City Emergency Management also issued a travel warning from 4 a.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday. The warning cited potentially “widespread travel impacts” during the morning commute.
“New York City will be under flood watch starting tomorrow and we urge New Yorkers to be prepared for heavy rain and possible flooding on Friday and Saturday morning,” NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol warned yesterday.
Iscol said, “All New Yorkers need to be careful. If you must travel, consider using public transportation and allow extra travel time; if you must drive, avoid flooded roads.”
Iscol also added that there could be potential basement and ground floor flooding that could occur.
