KAGİDER and GarantiBank, introduce the women entrepreneurship in Turkey.


NEW YORK- On the occasion of the 53rd Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, a session on Turkey, entitled “Supporting Women Entrepreneurs: Examples from Turkey” will be held on Tuesday, 10 March 2009, between 1.15 pm–2.45 pm, at the United Nations headquarters in New York with the support of the Permanent Mission of Turkey – United Nations. At the session, the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey (KAGIDER) and Garanti Bank and Zeynep Öztekin, a successful woman entrepreneur from Turkey and the owner of Pan Tarım Ltd. will be present.

During the session, where the activities for the women entrepreneurs and their experiences will be mentioned, Gülseren Onanç, the founder of the KAGIDER, will deliver a speech on the role of the NGO’s to encourage the women entrepreneurs for the peace and wealth of the Turkish society.

Nafiz Karadere, Executive Vice President of Garanti Bank, will make a presentation on the Garanti Bank’s corporate responsibility and its approach to the women entrepreneurship. After Karadere, Cenk Kaan Gür, Garanti Bank’s SME Banking Coordinator will share what Garanti does to enhance women entrepreneurship in Turkey, as a bank with tailor-made financial products as well as social projects geared towards fostering and improving businesses of women entrepreneurs.

The session will also include a speech by Ms. Zeynep Öztekin, who was rewarded in Turkey’s Woman Entrepreneur Contest of 2007, entitled “Being a woman entrepreneur in Turkey”.
