ISTANBUL- Turkey and Qatari officials have agreed to do joint operation of the Kabul airport in Afghanistan, according to diplomatic sources. A memorandum of understanding was signed by Turkish and Qatari companies to run the airport in equal partnership.

According to sources who spoke to Anadolu Agency, the deal was signed when Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Doha for the seventh Turkey-Qatar High Strategic Committee Meeting on December 7.

Joint committees from both Turkey and Qatar will visit Kabul  to discuss expectations and details with the current government in Afghanistan.  In August, flights were suspended at the main international airport in Kabul after the Taliban took power because of security and technical concerns.
