All Eyes on first Trump-Biden TV Debate on September 29th

NEW YORK (TURKISH JOURNAL) – Ali Çınar – There is now less than two months until the U.S. elections since the election campaigns are not like the previous ones due to the COVID-19 pandemic, It is so obvious that T.V. and social media have been playing even bigger roles during election campaigns. However, there is still a fierce competition going on in the presidential elections.

When we look at the latest polls from the critical states, it can be seen that Biden has 49% of the vote against Trump’s 45%. Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin are among these critical states.

We have seen Trump frequent these states more often in the last few weeks. Panel discussions on T.V. will impact voters’ decisions between Trump and Biden, particularly on the undecided vote 84 million people in the U.S viewed the first presidential debate aired in 2016 U.S.

According to the Pew Research survey, 10% of the voters in the 2016 presidential elections made their decisions based on the debates that aired live on T.V.

The first Trump-Biden debate will be held in Ohio on September 29, the second one in Florida on October 15, the third one in Tennessee on October 22. Vice President Pence and his opponent Harris, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, will be debating live on T.V. on October 7. In all honesty, while it is expected that Trump will display a better performance against Biden, I can see that Vice-President Pence will have difficulties against his opponent, Harris.

According to USA Today and the opinion poll of Suffolk University, 47% of the public believe that Trump will outperform Biden in the debates, while 41% think Biden will come out as the winner.

In addition to this, 79% of Democrats think Biden will come out better from the debates, while 87% of Republicans believe it will be Trump.

Earlier, President Trump had suggested that the 77-year-old Biden was ‘mentally closed’ and that he would not communicate with the world leaders like himself. Trump, who suggested that Biden take a cognitive test before the debate, claimed that he has taken one himself and that the results were very positive.

Last month, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden shouldn’t debate President Donald Trump, claiming that his Republican rival in the 2020 election would “belittle” what the presidential debates should be about.  “I don’t think that there should be any debates. I do not think that the President of the United States has comported himself in a way that has any association with truth, evidence, data, and facts,” Pelosi said.

Get ready for September 29th! We will see who performs better and how much they will affect the undecided voters in the first round.
